Donate Stock or Securities
Giving Stock Gifts
Giving marketable securities including publicly traded stock, bonds, or mutual funds can be a tax advantaged way to make your gift to Louisville Public Media. Appreciated securities, particularly those held longer than one year, may reduce or avoid capital gains obligations and allow you to take a full tax deduction for the fair market value of the stock at time of transfer.
Once the transfer is complete, we usually sell the stock and use the proceeds to fund your favorite public radio programs. You get all the benefits of membership, too.
We encourage you to talk to your tax or financial advisor to better understand the implications of such a gift on your individual tax situation.
How to Make a Stock Gift
The preferred method of donating stock is via electronic transfer through your bank or broker.
This method is easiest for you and ensures the proceeds will benefit Louisville Public Media almost immediately. Your broker will require written instructions from you in order to initiate the transfer.
Here is our account information that you will need to make the transfer:
Baird
DTC #0547
Account #3051-1730
Kentucky Public Radio Inc (Tax ID #61-1259787)
Mutual funds can also be donated via ACATS. Contact us for ACATS account information.
Please notify us of the details of your gift, so we can process your donation properly. Contact Kelly Wilkinson (kwilkinson@louisvillepublicmedia.org or 502-814-6565) with the details of your gift. Thank you!
